PPP Kinamatic Solution for the Great Tohoku Earthquake, M9.0
1Hz Post-processing with Global Satellite Clock Estimated with Real-time
March 28, 2011
1Hz GEONET data provided by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) via Nippon GPS Data Services Company (NGDS), were post-processed in real-time mode with realtime orbits and clock corrections from the VERIPOS/APEX global service. GPS Solutions' RTNet software was used for the PPP analysis and is also used for APEX service.
The animations below show coordinate variations every 1 sec. relative to the pre-earthquake a priori coordinates. There are four animation movie files. From top to bottom: (1) The top animation shows the co-seismic deformation in a fixed color scale for the entire event and north, east, height components are scaled identically. The deformation is shown in real-time - meaning that every 1-second frame is shown for 1 second. The second animation from the top shows the same but is sped up by a factor of 24. The bottom two animations have an adjusted color scale to emphasize the spatial variability of the seismic waves. Units for the motion are in cm.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE "PLAY" BUTTON MUST BE PRESSED TO START EACH ANIMATION !!
Time-series plot for the GEONET station Oshika which showed maximum co-seismic motions are available at this link, and time-series plot of propagation of co-seismic variations is available at this link
Also, please note that 1Hz GEONET data for historical earthquake cases is provided from Nippon GPS Data service (only Japanese web page) for user as a service (price depending on data size).
1 fps, Absolute color scaling from a-priori coordinate (before earthquake)
